Every day, the Deming Senior Center and Columbus Community Center serve as a lifeline for hundreds of seniors across Luna County, providing nutritious meals, warm smiles, and human connection through our daily lunch program and Meals on Wheels delivery service.

Right now, we can provide meals Monday through Friday, but we know hunger doesn’t stop on weekends. Many of our seniors, especially those who live alone, are homebound, struggle to access food, hydration, and companionship on Saturdays and Sundays.

That’s why we’re launching our “Senior Meals Every Day” campaign to expand our service from 5 days a week to 7 days a week, at both centers and through home deliveries.

Your contributions will directly support:

Daily hot lunches served at the Deming Senior Center (including home deliveries and Adult day care) and the Columbus Community Center
Expanding meal delivery to senior homes to include weekends
Drinks and hydration, including coffee, tea, milk, juice, and water
Rural outreach, ensuring seniors in Columbus and other areas in Luna County are not forgotten
Staffing and scheduling for 7-day service

Currently, we receive funding form various government sources which allows us to provide services Monday-Friday. Our goal is to raise another $4 million, which is enough to sustain a 7-day-a-week meal service for the next 5 to 7 years, depending on growth and participation. We would like to begin daily service no later than the Spring of 2026. Every dollar you give brings us one step closer to ensuring no senior in our community goes hungry or feels alone, not even for a single day.

Services We Provide

The Deming Senior Citizens Center (Senior Center) is dedicated to supporting the welfare of seniors across Luna County, New Mexico. Our mission is to preserve dignity, promote independence, and enhance the quality of life for a diverse senior population.

We currently offer a range of essential programs and services, including Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels), Congregate Meals (daily lunches), Adult Day Care, Transportation (local and long-distance), and Homemaker Services such as respite care, light cleaning, cooking, and errand assistance.

These programs serve seniors aged 60 and older throughout Luna County, including residents of the City of Deming and the Village of Columbus.
