Support Singaporean storytelling

November 14–16, 2026, Dream Stall, Annette Lee’s debut feature, will screen in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and the Seattle area. Annette will join audiences for a Q&A after each screening.

It’s an opportunity for Singaporeans abroad to share a story from home, and for American audiences to discover Singapore beyond familiar headlines, through a film about family, ambition, and the meaning of success.

Eight Parables is producing the tour, SingaporeConnect is hosting, and Kampong Collective is the community partner.

How your contribution helps

Private supporters have committed funding toward the tour. Ticket sales cover theatre screening costs, while sponsors are contributing discounts and publicity support.

We’re asking the community to help cover the remaining costs, including flights, accommodations, and event production, so we can bring the film and its filmmaker to all three cities.

Why give?

Help Singaporean stories reach new audiences

Annette Lee brings her experience as a filmmaker, musician, comedian, and digital creator to her first feature. Supporting this tour helps a Singaporean artist connect directly with audiences beyond her home market.

As supporter Yik Lin Khoo puts it, the film offers a view of Singapore “more true to contemporary Singaporeans’ sense of humour and struggles.”

Build connections through Southeast Asian storytelling

For Singaporeans and friends of Singapore, this is a chance to share something meaningful from home. For others, it’s an invitation to discover a different perspective.

Bringing one Singaporean film to new audiences is a concrete step toward greater visibility for Southeast Asian storytelling.

Give the arts a place alongside technology

The Bay Area knows how to back new technology. Creative talent deserves support, too.

The tour, and the Arts & Entrepreneurship Mixer following the San Francisco screening: brings filmmakers, food entrepreneurs, technology professionals, and audiences together.

Your contribution advances SingaporeConnect’s mission: connecting Singaporeans and friends of Singapore so they thrive here, while building bridges back to Singapore.

Where the funds go

Contributions support the costs of presenting the tour. If we exceed our fundraising goal, the surplus will support SingaporeConnect’s next community program.

Contributions to SingaporeConnect are not tax-deductible as charitable donations.
