Climb for Hope’s Disappointment Cleaver Climb is the classic adventure for anyone interested in or involved in mountaineering.

Focusing on team building and training, the first two days prepare us for our climb with a Mountaineering Day School. We first ascend Mt. Rainier's lower slopes to Camp Muir (10,060'), where we stay for the evening and prepare for the climb ahead. On summit day, an alpine start brings us up the Ingraham Glacier or Disappointment Cleaver route to the mountain's summit. With a short time commitment, this climb is ideal for anyone looking to attempt one of America's great mountaineering challenges.

Arrive in Portland, OR and drive to Whittaker’s Bunkhouse

Hike from Paradise to Camp Muir

June 28
Rest day and prepare for summit attempt

June 29
Leave for summit at 12:30am and hope to summit by 7:30am; Return to Muir

June 30
Hike down from Muir to Paradise. Team celebratory dinner (Locals could possibly drive home; others could catch a red-eye)

Fly out

Hardware – Our Guides provide most of the hardware – ice ax, crampons, harness, ropes, carabiners. The big items are the boots. We can rent those in Portland. Just let us know if you need them. They need to be crampon compatible.

We’ll bring all the gear for cooking. You just need a cup, bowl, spoon above. Quantity varies depending on route and length of trip.
