Festivals are incredible places to experience transcendence, make friends, and connect with who we are.
They are also places where people can get lost, experience anti-semitism, and feel alienated.
Shabbat Tent fulfills a critical need, creating a Jewish space which is friendly and nourishing, which helps keep people centered and connected.
With increased anti-semitism — even at music festivals from performers — creating and maintaining a Jewish place at festivals, and a place where people can celebrate Shabbat together - is more important than ever!
Shabbat Tent Shabbat hospitality is the Oasis of Chill at music festivals across the country since 2009. Every year the Shabbat Tent crew travels to music festivals with a simple goal - to bring community together. We are an open tent in the tradition of Abraham and Sarah.
Over the last twenty+ years, we have celebrated adult bar/bat mitzvahs, engagements, Shabbat, Passover, and we've helped thousands light Shabbat candles or make Kiddush in the tent. We have been a safe space when antisemites like Roger Waters preaches hate against Israel and Jews from the stage. We have helped people on bad drug trips, people who are in mourning over lost loved ones.
We make a space open and invite all who are interested to join as they are, and as they wish - and the results are TRANSFORMATIVE.
Why support Shabbat Tent? We are often a place where people reconnect to their Jewish identities. Or where people meet and interact with Jews for the first time in their lives. And we are also there for those of us who love Shabbat and want to connect with others who love Shabbat during the festival.
Help us attend more festivals, and provide more hospitality. Our 2023 festival circuit is only possible with your help: together we can bring Shabbat Tent to 8 Festivals in 6+ States!
We are an all volunteer group, and 100% of funds raised go towards bringing the community together to celebrate at festivals.
Thank you in advance for your support!
