Brandon Elementary school did not qualify for Measure M funds for a permanent shade structure so we are launching a grassroots campaign to raise the money ourselves! With heat wave after heat wave, no air conditioning, and sparse tree coverage, the Brandon PTA is looking to raise $65,000 for the construction of a permanent shade structure over the lunch tables.

We are currently in the process of applying to a few grants, but unfortunately they are not guaranteed. Currently, we are applying for:

American Academy of Dermatology Shade Structure Grant
Protect the Groms Playground Shade Structure Grant
The Alice Tweed Tuohy Foundation Grant

Through all of our efforts, if we end up raising more than the cost of the shade structure, then the additional funds will be used exclusively for additional shade solutions. These include, but are not limited to, the planting of more trees, additional shade structures, AC units, and fans.

This is where you come in! No donation is too small (or too big) to help us reach our goal. We know it's ambitious but we also know that this is important. Our kids' safety is our #1 priority. Please help us build out our school for future generations.

NOTE: This fundraising campaign will be updated if any grants are received by Brandon Elementary PTA for the construction of this shade structure.

It's only getting hotter and we need more coverage!
