Here is the reality: more than 90% of Aish’s expenses — our programs, classes, personal guidance, and the Dan Family Aish World Center overlooking the Kotel — are paid in shekels, while nearly all donations arrive in US dollars. Over the past year, the shekel has strengthened by more than 20% against the dollar, meaning the same gift simply does not go as far as it once did.
