The Funny Farm Rescue & Sanctuary has recently partnered with ACCT Philly to help save animals who have run out of time and options. Many of these dogs find themselves on euthanasia lists simply because they arrived as strays, were never reclaimed, have medical needs their owners could not afford, or have been overlooked for far too long.

At the Funny Farm, we believe every animal deserves a second chance.

Our journey began when Laurie was contacted about a dog named Dirk, who was showing symptoms of Megaesophagus, a condition she has extensive experience treating. Without hesitation, Laurie drove to Philadelphia to bring Dirk to safety and create a plan for his recovery. Through dedicated care, proper nutrition, and specialized feeding techniques, Dirk not only survived, but thrived. Today, he is living the life he deserves in a loving home with one of our longtime supporters.

After Dirk's rescue, the calls for help kept coming.

In just a few short months, the Funny Farm has stepped in to save 30 dogs and one cat, each facing an uncertain future. Some arrived very scared and others needed medical attention, nourishment, training, or simply a safe place to rest and feel loved.

Our mission is simple: provide immediate veterinary care, proper nutrition, and placement in caring foster homes where these animals can heal, decompress, and begin to trust again. These foster homes become a soft place to land while each animal starts their journey toward a forever family.

Every rescue comes with significant expenses, medical evaluations, vaccinations, medications, specialized veterinary care, food, training, transportation, and daily supplies. Yet when a life hangs in the balance, we never want finances to be the reason we have to say no.

With the support of our compassionate supporters and community, we can continue opening our hearts and our doors to animals who have nowhere else to turn.
