Shema: Hear O'Washington

Fundraising Gala. We hope you enjoy our first virtual fundraiser. This is about YOU and what YOU can do to contribute to the Jewish history in this state. If you think this is not about YOU because you weren't born in WA state, THINK AGAIN- if you are here in this state, you are making history every single day. If you are joining from another state, thank you for recognizing that we are all connected as a People. Your contributions today are more than appreciated. Surprise us - dig deep - contribute generously. Remember, our live event would have cost $180 just to get in the door. We appreciate YOU so greatly, but also so greatly need your support today for our critical work. You may also continue your SHOUT OUTS as they will all live in the Jewish Lifecycles section of the Washington Jewish Museum, our digital museum - so if you want to honor or memorialize or celebrate someone - do this today to live on.

Over the next few weeks, you will hear from many community members who will promote the historical society event - the first ever virtual gala.

And this year, with your help and support:

  1. You will help to cull the wonderful stories found in our oral histories to bring the voices of our past to life and offer our entire community access to these priceless treasures from our history.
  2. You will help provide photographs and documents to accompany the digital exhibits in the new Washington Jewish Museum that will preserve these stories and the legacies of our community.
  3. You will help us launch the new oral history methodology with the Hear O'Washington (HO'W) Committee to collect the history of both long-time Washingtonians as well as people new to the state.
  4. And last but definitely not least, you will help us create our Teen Historian Program to work with the HO'W Committee and be a learning and engaging group, working with our Archivist and other community professionals.

We cannot wait to welcome you to our first virtual fundraiser - Join us - Be there for your viewing pleasure and support the society.

We appreciate you all greatly and thank you for your role in making history happen and come alive.

In honor of the Center for Humanity, Dee Simon, and the many at the Center who inspire us onward in addition to Lisa Kranseler of WSJHS! And to Issac (Ike) Simon who brought my family from the distance to Seattle and contributed to its commerce as a tireless merchant and business owner.
