Summer can be a time of fun, friends, and connection. But summer blues are real and changes in weather, schedules, and friendships can impact our mood and result in increased isolation.
There is a strong link between social isolation and increased anxiety and depression. It is important for us to check-in with each other. Having a support network and community is crucial to achieving your best mental health.
Everyone can be an advocate for mental health and a friend. Don’t be afraid to reach out to someone to see how they are doing. Sharing your story and encouraging others to talk about mental health makes a big difference in letting people know they are not alone. It is ok to ask for help.
NAMI Seattle is incredibly grateful for our community and to have you as part of it! We provide connection through support groups both for people living with a mental health condition as well as their loved ones. We also run a support and resource referral helpline to connect people to the help they need. Call or text (425)-298-5315 or email [email protected]. When we Shine 4 Mental Health, we create connections, combat isolation, and support mental health all year round.
