Late one evening, an elderly dog was found wandering the grounds of the Newnan Justice Center. Tired, sick, and clearly in need of help, he was fortunate to cross paths with a few compassionate earth angels who took him in for the night.

The next day, knowing he needed medical attention, they brought him to Animal Control. After an examination by the shelter veterinarian, Shofar was given a heartbreaking label: "Hospice."

Hospice means there is no way to know how much time remains. It could be a year. It could be a month. It could be only days.

What we do know is that every day matters.

Thanks to the kindness of an incredible Newnan-Coweta Humane Society volunteer who opened their heart and home, Shofar now has a safe place to rest, receive love, and enjoy the comfort every dog deserves.

But hospice care comes with medical expenses. Shofar needs veterinary evaluations, medications, nutritious food, and ongoing support to ensure his remaining days are filled with comfort and dignity.
