A SmartBox is a tool capable of transforming the learning experience of the children of an entire African village. As a self-contained Computer Lab, Library, and Textbook Collection rolled into one, the SmartBox offers exciting new opportunities to schools in the developing world struggling in the absence of curriculum, electricity, internet connections, or even qualified teachers.

The brainchild of Innovative Education International out of Fort Wayne, Indiana, each SmartBox features 20 Chromebooks, 20 headphones, an Intel Celeron processor, a 1TB solid state hard drive, battery backup, and an interactive library filled with information. Included in the materials are the full Khan Academy curriculum, Kolibri, Moodle, Wikipedia, Bible studies, and many others. The local school can easily add their own curriculum to the hard drive, making it accessible to all 20 Chromebooks. (Up to 50 Chromebooks can be connected to the system.)

In partnership with Heart of Africa, Mission Resource seeks to put a SmartBox in the hands of Samuel Yeboah, founder and director of Beacon School in the village of Bule, Ghana. Samuel is a visionary leader in his community who has made Beacon School successful even with very few resources. We can't wait to see what the school does with a SmartBox in hand.
