As a three-time cancer survivor still living with the effects of a cancer diagnosis, I understand how lonely the journey can be—full of anxiety, distress, and uncertainty. Yet, well-intentioned friends and family often have no idea what to offer to cancer patients, while hospitals aren’t able to offer adequate material and psychosocial resources during and after treatments. This is where Kits to Heart comes in! Since May 2020, Kits to Heart has been giving thoughtfully designed, curated cancer care kits to patients and caregivers. This year, it is launching an innovative art therapy program, furthering its mission is to bring smiles and solidarity to those affected by cancer.
