On May 3, 2023, at 3:04am, our precious baby girl, Sophia Ann, was traumatically born sleeping. Our lives were shattered and forever changed. She was born five days after Shane's birthday and five days before Kim's birthday, and she is buried in between our cemetery plots. Our baby girl will forever be in our hearts.

After a long eight and a half year battle with infertility, and suffering two early miscarriages, we were finally pregnant with our beautiful baby girl. All appointments went well and we cherished every time we could see her doing acrobatics on the ultrasound screen. Her heartbeat was strong and we loved listening to it at home, too. Losing Sophia was something we never expected we would have to encounter, and at times it felt like the grief was too heavy to bear.

The love and support we were given by other loss parents helped us in ways that we could never truly put into words. Meeting Elena, following the loss of Sophia, and in the midst of health issues that Kim endured, was such a blessing. When she said she wanted to name her charity after our baby girl, we were speechless and honored, and we couldn't be more thankful for that. Our daughter's name will now live on through the help being given to others on their parenting journey. Her beautiful footprints even make up the butterfly that is in the logo.

Knowing that The Sophia Ann Charity and The Sophia Center are providing so many support groups and workshops, that are led by licensed therapists, brings healing to our grieving hearts. Thank you for your support and allowing other parents to be able to receive support, too. 🪽
