When I became a young mother at 15, I faced countless challenges, balancing motherhood, education, and my personal goals. I often felt isolated and unsure of where to turn for support. Over time, however, I gained confidence, built a supportive network, and found the resources that helped me succeed. Now, I am dedicated to offering that same opportunity to other young mothers.

My name is Juanita Samuels, and I am the Founder of South Project. In 2020, during the height of COVID, I felt compelled to give back in a way that reflected my own journey. As a young, pregnant teenager, I was often labeled as a statistic, just another high school dropout facing seemingly insurmountable odds. But I refused to be defined by those labels. I graduated in the top 10% of my high school class, earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and later obtained a master’s degree in finance.

Since then, I have built a successful career, become a business owner, and invested in multiple ventures. Still, I have never forgotten the struggles I faced as a young mother. I knew I had to help others like me break through those same barriers.

Now, we are raising funds to support all of our programs, including community baby showers, empowerment workshops, and essential resources for mothers. These initiatives are designed to uplift and equip young mothers with the confidence, tools, and support they need to thrive. Our workshops cover vital topics such as building self-esteem, setting achievable goals, and preparing for educational and career opportunities. Participants also receive mentorship and access to local resources.
