When I became a young mother at 15, I faced many challenges—balancing motherhood, education, and personal goals. I often felt isolated and unsure of where to turn for support. But over time, I found my confidence, built a network of support, and discovered the resources that helped me succeed. Now, I want to offer that same opportunity to other young mothers.

My name is Juanita Samuels, and I am the Founder of South Project. In 2020, during the height of COVID, I felt compelled to give back in a way that resonated deeply with my own experiences. As a young mother pregnant at 15, I was labeled a statistic—a high school dropout facing overwhelming odds. But I refused to be defined by those labels. I graduated in the top 10% of my high school class and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s in finance.

Since then, I’ve built a successful career, become a business owner, and invested in multiple ventures. However, I’ll never forget the struggles I faced as a teenager. I knew I had to help other young mothers overcome the challenges I faced.

We are raising funds to host a workshop that will empower young mothers with the confidence, resources, and support they need to thrive. This workshop will cover topics like building self-esteem, setting achievable goals, and preparing for educational and career opportunities. Participants will also receive mentorship and be introduced to local resources.
