The Citrus Heights Homeless Assistance Resource Team (HART) is a nonprofit organization committed to reducing and preventing homelessness in the City of Citrus Heights through compassionate, coordinated, and community-driven solutions. Our mission is to provide immediate relief and create sustainable pathways to housing stability and self-sufficiency for individuals and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

HART delivers comprehensive, client-centered services that address both urgent needs and long-term stability. Our core programs focus on homelessness prevention, crisis response, and supportive services that promote independence. Through our Rental Assistance Program (RAP) we provide emergency rental and utility assistance, resource navigation, and connections to essential supports including food access, healthcare, employment services, and public benefits enrollment.

To protect vulnerable residents during the coldest months, HART operates the Winter Sanctuary program, offering safe and dignified overnight shelter, hot meals, shower facilities, to-go breakfasts, and access to a Community Health Worker. Year-round services include Monday Respite, which provides meals, showers, and on-site support; a weekly community meal at Celtic Cross; and student and family support programs that supply clothing and other basic necessities to households experiencing housing insecurity. In partnership with Grace House NorCal, HART also provides financial assistance for individuals experiencing homelessness who are ready to pursue substance use treatment.

Through strong collaboration with the City of Citrus Heights, local nonprofits, faith-based organizations, businesses, and volunteers, HART serves as a central hub for homelessness response in a community with limited resources and no year-round shelter. By prioritizing early intervention, individualized care, and community partnership, HART helps residents stabilize housing, reduce reliance on emergency systems, and rebuild independent, healthy lives.
