Each year, we equip girls and community leaders across Africa and Latin America with the skills to understand challenges, uplift their communities, and drive collective solutions that advance gender equity and climate justice. In Rwanda, 13-year-old Marie Ange shared, “I used to be so afraid of speaking in front of people, but now I feel confident and empowered. I know I can make a difference.” That spark of confidence, of realizing you can create change, is transformative. And that transformation is exactly what Creative Action Institute makes possible.

Marie Ange joined our Sauti ya Dada program this spring as a shy girl lacking confidence. In just six months, she has developed leadership skills, strengthened her knowledge of menstrual health and climate change, and learned creative methods to engage her community. She now leads group activities, supports her peers, and dreams of being a national leader one day. “This program has changed my life,” she told us. She is one of 500 girls each year who gain the tools and support they need to stay in school and advocate for their future.

Transformation is also happening across Latin America and West Africa. Environmental practitioners in our Creative Environmental Leadership and Community Resilience courses learn new, innovative tools that help them engage communities and protect biocultural diversity. In Peru, participant Mac Allister used these tools to work with a youth group and local artist to paint a mural addressing deforestation and biodiversity loss. That single mural inspired the community to create 20 more, forming an art-lined pathway to a local waterfall. The path now guides tourists, raises awareness about precious natural resources, and generates much-needed income for the community.
