It's been so nice to get grant funding and NOT have to ask for money constantly. Sadly, those funds are all but spent, and the need has not slowed down at all....So here we are again. We know money is tight for everyone right now, but so many dogs need help; we'll have to start sharing stories to fund their homes.

Like this little face peeking out from the metal pipe he lives in. This puppy is named Pippen; he is a 3-year-old husky mix. Pippen lives along the river, and if his people had asked sooner, we could have sent this house out on Ruby Marine using their donated shipping. It is too late for that, and we cannot let this poor guy live in a metal pipe all winter.

Our houses cost $420.00 (house, straw, delivery fee to the ANC airport). Any extra funds raised will go toward the shipping costs to fly the house out to Pippen.

If you would like to help Pippen get a proper house and move out of the metal tube he's been living in, please donate here. You can also donate at www.strawfordogs.org using paypal.

Thank you, everyone, for all of your support. We really feel the love from the dog lovers out there. You are amazing and we appreciate each and every one of you....Every dollar helps and every and every dollar goes to helping the dogs!

While we at Straw For Dogs are not of the mindset that dogs should live outside in the cold away from their families, the reality is that many do.

We provide insulated dog houses and straw to dogs living outside in the harsh Alaskan climate. Even with a dog house and straw these living conditions are far from ideal. However, sending these resources are the most immediate action we can take to provide a little comfort to dogs who are suffering in the elements.

We continue to encourage people to bring their dogs inside (at least periodically for love and socialization), walk them, and play with them. We offer supplies to help with this as well.
