Morning Workshop: Playworks (8:30am-10:30am)

Abby Roach, Playwork's Indiana Partnership Manager, will walk us through creating play environments where every child can learn to make friends, solve problems, and believe in themselves. 

• Recess is when kids learn to solve problems, make decisions, take turns, express ideas, and listen to others.
• Playworks teach research-backed strategies to craft a dynamic play environment throughout the year. (playworks.org)

This workshop is free and open to community educators, youth workers & people passionate about helping children.

During lunch we will hear from Playworks, Self Healing Communities and Indiana Youth Institute.

This is a great choice if you can't attend all day, but want to hear from all of our presenters. These will be crisp discussions in the format of TED Talks, with time for questions and conversations with your table mates. 

The Lunch Event is from 11:30am-1:30pm, including a boxed lunch from One Ten.

The Afternoon Workshop is from 2:30pm-4:30pm

Velshonna Luckey, President, will share research about the neuroscience of trauma and human resilience, including strategies to help every community member play a role caring for those who are struggling. 

• Self-Healing Communities shares resources on the neuroscience of trauma & human resilience to help community members better care for those who are struggling.
• Strategies are to help answer the question that follows after people learn about the Adverse Childhood Experiences: “What can we do next?” (selfhealingmichiana.org)
