When we opened Scuola Creativa eleven years ago, we were one of the only Reggio-Inspired preschools in Metro Detroit. Four years later, we expanded to create the area's only Reggio-Inspired infant-toddler program. And now, we have an opportunity to bring our unique educational approach to elementary school students in our community.

Enter Casa Piccola — "little house."

Located in the Grixdale Farms neighborhood of Detroit, Casa Piccola will be the next chapter of Connecting Through the Arts & Education programming: summer camps for elementary-age children, leadership opportunities for middle and high school students, surrounding land for gardening and nature exploration, and a drop-in atelier (art studio) with classes for children and adults throughout the school year. Just as importantly, Casa Piccola will serve as a bridge — connecting families across communities.

Imagine a place where a group of kids walks in not knowing what they'll create — and walks out surprised by themselves. Where a family spends a Saturday afternoon making something together. Where creativity isn't a luxury — it's a given.

That place is almost here. And we'd love for you to be the first to see it.
