Over thirty years ago, a small group of singers came together in New York City with a radical idea: that music could be a force for inclusion, justice, and joy, and that everyone deserved a seat in the chorus.

That idea has never been more alive, or more necessary, than it is right now.

Since 1993, Empire City Men's Chorus has performed at Carnegie Hall and Symphony Space, premiered groundbreaking new works, and built one of New York City's most distinctive and beloved choral communities. We have commemorated the 30th Anniversary of Stonewall, marked World AIDS Day, and consistently used the stage as a platform for stories that deserve to be heard.

This season alone tells you everything about who we are.

In December, Absolute Joy reclaimed the sustaining power of music in the face of darkness, pairing Baroque masterworks with a world premiere commission that spoke directly to our current moment. This spring, Gun Mass confronted America's twin crises of gun violence and police brutality through two devastating choral works that demand we not look away. And in June, Love Letters brings world premiere choral settings of real historical correspondence between men across the centuries, a celebration of masculine tenderness, vulnerability, and connection that has never been heard on a concert stage before.
