Bringing Community Support Across the Country: The Mobile Community Outreach Journey: Detroit, MI → Oakland, CA → San Francisco, CA → Santa Cruz, CA → Los Angeles, CA → Flint, MI → Detroit, MI

In April 2024, we arrived in Detroit ready to begin community outreach work rooted in connection, care, and creative expression. Although the original outreach van we came with became unavailable, the mission itself never stopped. That challenge clarified the vision: to build something stronger, mobile, and community-powered.

This mission supports the creation of Scared Reclamation And Restoration Church Of Unity's Mobile Community Outreach Van — the traveling space for service, storytelling, music, and direct support — journeying from Detroit to California and back, connecting communities along the way.

What This Mission Supports

The reliable van that serves as:

The transport vehicle for supplies and volunteers

The mobile community space

The base for music pop-ups, testimony, storytelling, and outreach stops

🧭 Cross-Country Travel

Fuel for a full roundtrip from Detroit to California and back

Maintenance and contingency support to ensure a safe, sustainable journey

🎒 Community Support Kits

Hundreds of thoughtfully prepared kits distributed along the route, including:

Home-cooked hot meal, food and water

Hygiene essentials

Practical care items that meet immediate needs

Each kit is designed to offer dignity, relief, and human connection — delivered with care hand-to-hand.

🎶 Mobile Music Pop-Ups (Shure Mobile Studio Setup)

This mission also supports the Shure Mobile Studio Setup, allowing for:

Small, spontaneous music pop-ups along the route

Creative expression as the form of healing, unity, and presence

Community gathering through sound, rhythm, and shared experience

Music becomes the bridge — the way to meet people where they are and create moments of collective uplift.

📸 Storytelling, Photography & 2027 "Community Is Unity" Calendar

Funds will also support:

A camera and documentation equipment

Printing costs for the 2027 “Community Is Unity” Cross-Country Calendar

This calendar will feature:

True survivor stories

Portraits and faces of real people encountered along the journey

City destinations and landscapes

Sightseeing through storytelling — honoring resilience, visibility, and place

The calendar becomes the living archive of the journey and the people who make it meaningful.

🤝 Volunteer Support & Flexibility

Hot meals and lodging for volunteers when needed

Emergency and contingency funds for unexpected needs along the road

Our Community Support Goals

Primary Goal: $15,000 — covers the mobile community outreach van, travel, supplies, and core creative tools

Stretch Goal: $25,000 — expands the number of community kits, enhances music and documentation efforts, and ensures long-term sustainability.
