Every patient deserves the opportunity to learn, connect, and find a community that understands.

Living with low-grade serous ovarian cancer (LGSOC) can be an isolating experience.

Because this cancer is rare, many patients have never met another person living with the same diagnosis. Finding reliable information about treatment options, emerging research, and specialists who understand LGSOC can be challenging.

That's why bringing our community together matters so much.

More Than a Conference

March 18–21, 2027, STAAR will welcome patients from across the country to Phoenix, Arizona, for our LGSOC Patient Conference.

This gathering offers something many patients rarely experience: the opportunity to be surrounded by people who truly understand what living with LGSOC means.

Patients will hear from leading LGSOC experts, learn about the latest research and treatment developments, ask questions, and connect with others who share their experiences.

They'll leave with new knowledge, meaningful connections, and a community they can turn to long after the conference ends.

For some patients, this may be the first time they've ever met another person with LGSOC.

But Not Everyone Can Afford to Get There

STAAR provides complimentary conference registration for patients because we believe access to education, information, and community shouldn't depend on someone's financial circumstances.

But airfare, hotel accommodations, and other travel expenses can still be significant barriers.

For some patients, those costs may mean missing the conference entirely.

We want to change that.

Our Goal: $24,000 in Patient Travel Scholarships

STAAR has set a goal of raising $24,000 in travel scholarships to help patients who need financial assistance attend our March 2027 conference.

This GivingTuesday, we're asking our community to help us raise $5,000 toward that larger goal.

Every contribution brings us closer to helping more patients experience the education, connections, and support our conference provides.

We've Already Shown What Our Community Can Accomplish

This year, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, STAAR secured the funding needed for the third year of two important LGSOC research studies at the University of Chicago and MD Anderson Cancer Center.

It's a powerful reminder of what can happen when a small but determined community comes together.

Now, we're asking that same community to help us make another important part of our mission possible: connecting patients with the education, information, and support they deserve.
