These thoughts are common among individuals experiencing suicidal ideation, a reality that it can touch anyone, irrespective of age, background, or gender. In 2021, 25% of 8th-grade students in Woodbury County contemplated suicide, with 14% formulating a plan.

Join us for our Stand Up Let's Talk event, an evening filled with inspiration, laughter, and a dash of good humor! We're here to openly discuss the importance of mental health and serve up some hearty laughs because, let’s face it, sometimes we just need to laugh at the chaos of life. Together, we can acknowledge the profound impact mental health challenges have on our lives while reminding each other that it’s perfectly okay not to be okay.

At the event, you’ll hear from Archer, a high school freshman who embodies the message that mental health issues can affect anyone. Archer is your typical teenager, juggling school, friends, extracurricular activities, and video games. Thanks to a caring friend who stood up and got help. Archer conquered his challenges with the help of services provided by Siouxland Mental Health Center. This support allowed him to know that he doesn't have to face these feelings alone, and he now inspires others with his story, proving that you can be a hero in your own life!

In our tech-filled world, it can be challenging to understand what someone is truly experiencing. Archer aims to encourage others to reach out, acknowledge their feelings, and recognize their incredible worth. His journey is just beginning, and your presence at our event will help create a space for healing, connection, and a few good laughs.

This event will help raise funds to expand school-based mental health services, specialized mental health programs (such as infant mental health), and increase family therapy options.
