Kansas City is home to a vibrant and growing community of makers, creatives, and skilled artisans. The Sewing Labs is proud to bring that energy to life through the Greater KC Stitch Off, a signature, citywide sewing competition designed to celebrate talent, build connection, and drive meaningful impact.

Inspired by the energy and broad appeal of competition formats like The Great British Sewing Bee and The Great British Bake Off, this six-week event transforms sewing into a highly engaging, community-driven experience. From September through November 2026, amateur and professional sewists from across the metro will compete in themed challenges that highlight technical skill, innovation, and storytelling.

Throughout the competition, participants will share their work, activate their networks, and build momentum as their creations are viewed and voted on by the community, increasing visibility and engagement across the region. The experience culminates in a runway-style Grand Finale that showcases the finalists and celebrates the collective strength of Kansas City’s creative community.

Proceeds from the Stitch Off directly support The Sewing Labs’ mission to inspire hope and opportunity through the power of sewing. Funding advances workforce development programs, including our Registered Apprenticeship Program, and expands access to community classes that build skills, confidence, and economic mobility. As we prepare for our next phase of growth, this support ensures we can continue to meet the increasing demand for our programs.
