On November 7th, the Alexandria Lions Club Branch will be hosting our 4th Annual Strides for Diabetes Awareness 5K & Family Fun Run.

Lions Clubs International is committed to helping communities become aware of diabetes and its serious complications. Through Strides events, Lions increase diabetes awareness and join the effort to prevent, control and eventually overcome the risks through Diabetes.

Proceeds from the event will be sent to the Louisiana Lions Camp in Anacoco, specifically to help with medicine and supplies for the week dedicated to kids with Type 1 diabetes. This camp provides an opportunity for youth ages 6 to 14, who live with Type 1 diabetes, to learn about their disease and get to know others who face the same challenges. The overall goal of the camp is to provide a safe, highly supervised, recreational experience for children with diabetes. Proceeds will also be sent to Breakthrough T1D (Formerly JDRF) and American Diabetes Association.
