The Fat Narrative Project is a storytelling event centering fat voices and the fat experience. With the theme Summer in a Fat Body, you will hear stories told by fat people around rockling sleeveless shirts, experiences at the pool, navigating chub rub, and everything in between!

In a world where fat people are constantly told to be smaller, both physically and emotionally, The Fat Narrative Project is here to push against that. This event is for fat people to take up all of the space, to be put on a platform, and to be celebrated. While this event is centered around fat people, especially the largest of the fat community, The Fat Narrative Project strongly encourages fat allies of all sizes to come and show support.

This is a space to celebrate fatness and not condemn or medicalize fatness or fat people.

Event Trigger Warning

When sharing stories of the fat experience, there may be mention of:

diet culture
fatphobic rhetoric
anti-fat bias
calorie counts
descriptions of specific disordered eating/exercise
dieting behaviors

While the storytellers will not be uplifting these systems and behaviors, we urge you to care for yourself, however that looks.

Note: We’re offering a sliding scale ticket model so folks can choose a price point that feels right for them. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. All ticket sales go toward covering space rental and supporting future Authentically Fat community events in the Twin Cities. The Fat Narrative Project is put on by Authentically Fat, a nonprofit organization in Minnesota that works to build fat community. We hold events, create experiences, and bring fat people and allies together to center the fat experience.
