This summer we are busy! From June through September) we will do at least 6 events in the community getting free, more diverse books to our young neighbors. We're doing 2 events with NYCHA resident associations, 4 events open to the public: Juneteenth (june 20) at Classical Theater of Harlem show (july 23) and a few events with our Read it and Leave it partner.

Our hope is to distribute ~300 books this summer, encourage kids to put down their devices and pick up a book!

Since 2020, Made for Me Books has been working to provide more diverse books to young people in Harlem. We want them to have books at home that reflect their own experiences and histories; and also have books that provide windows into other cultures and backgrounds. We especially seek to more widely share authors, histories and stories from diasporas that are not as widely circulated.
