A diagnosis. An accident. A loss. A phone call that divides life into "before" and "after."

In the days immediately following a crisis, support often arrives. Meals appear on porches. Friends send texts. Communities rally.

But months later — and sometimes years later — many families are still carrying the financial, emotional, and practical weight of what happened.

Borrowed Hope was created for those families.

What began as a small fundraiser among friends — Summer Fun Baskets filled with snacks and activity passes for families navigating the long middle — became something far larger than we anticipated. After a feature in The Charlotte Optimist, the response from the Charlotte community was overwhelming, and it became clear: this work needed to grow.

We are officially launching The Borrowed Hope Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in formation, built to support families who are still in it — long after the casseroles stop coming and the texts grow quiet.

We have filed our incorporation paperwork, formed a board, and are already organizing our Christmas Outreach and a signature fundraiser next spring. We are building partnerships to create something sustainable — an organization that shows up not just in the crisis, but in the long, quiet stretch that follows.
