We’re excited to share some big news: Bookspace is moving, and we’re launching a fundraiser to support this next chapter.

Bookspace will soon be co‑located with the nonprofit Center for Print and Collaborative Arts (CPCA) in a beautifully renovated factory space in the Southern Orchards neighborhood (705 Ann St., just off Parsons). Formerly known as the Columbus Printed Arts Center, CPCA's expanded community arts space will include a printmaking studio, digital print lab, communal darkroom, gallery, artist studios, and a courtyard garden for public gatherings and seasonal programming.

At the heart of this campus will be a much larger Bookspace, developed through an intentional partnership with CPCA. This collaboration centers on shared community programming, bringing together literature, print arts, and public events in one place.

The new Bookspace will allow us to do more of what we do best—and to do it together. We’ll have more books of all kinds (new and used, poetry, art books, zines, small press titles, and more), as well as dedicated space for events, workshops, author talks, book clubs, and collaborative programs with CPCA. The bookstore will open directly onto the garden, connecting everyday browsing with exhibitions, classes, and neighborhood gatherings.

This move supports Bookspace’s ongoing mission: to provide access to literature and resources that empower the Columbus community to act in solidarity, appreciate beauty, and build lasting relationships. By sharing space with a nonprofit arts partner, we’re creating a hub where readers, artists, and neighbors can learn from one another and build cultural life together.

Why we’re fundraising

Your support will help us establish Bookspace in this new home and ensure that our programming remains accessible, welcoming, and sustainable. Funds raised through this campaign are dedicated to supporting community‑oriented programming and shared public use within our partnership with CPCA.

Contributions will support:

Expanded book inventory, including art books, poetry, zines, and small press titles
Custom bookshelves, display fixtures, and specialized shelving that invite discovery and hands‑on browsing
Comfortable seating, lighting, and décor that encourage people to linger, read, and connect
Bookstore systems to support day‑to‑day operations, including inventory management and point‑of‑sale tools
Furniture and equipment for community programming, such as readings, workshops, talks, performances, and book clubs
Community program development and hosting:
- Book clubs and reading groups
- Free and sliding‑scale workshops
- Local and visiting author reading series
- Artist‑author collaborations
- Youth and intergenerational programs
Indoor and outdoor signage and visual presence, connecting Bookspace to the street and shared campus
Behind‑the‑scenes essentials, including storage, workspaces for online orders, and materials for zine‑making
Labor and materials needed to move, build, install, and maintain the space
