Action 4 Animals Hawaii was founded on a simple belief: animals deserve a chance.

On Hawaiʻi Island, thousands of cats and dogs face homelessness, abandonment, illness, and the challenges that come with pet overpopulation. For many, a second chance depends on someone stepping forward to help.

That's where Action 4 Animals Hawaii comes in.

We are a volunteer-powered, primarily foster-based animal rescue dedicated to improving the lives of cats and dogs across the Big Island. Through fostering, adoption, transport, and community support programs, we provide animals with the care they need while they wait for loving, permanent homes.

What makes us unique is our network of compassionate foster families. Animals are welcomed into homes where they receive individualized care, socialization, medical attention, and the love they deserve. This approach allows us to save vulnerable animals that might otherwise have nowhere to go.

But rescue is about more than finding homes. We are committed to addressing the root causes of animal homelessness through education, community outreach, and support for responsible pet ownership. We work alongside fellow rescues, veterinarians, spay/neuter clinics volunteers, donors, and community partners because lasting change happens when people come together.

Every adoption, every foster home, every volunteer hour, and every donation helps create a better future for animals on Hawaiʻi Island.

Together, we are building a community where every cat and dog has the opportunity to be safe, healthy, and loved.
