Support caregivers in need!

After the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010, many Haitians were granted temporary protected status (TPS), allowing them to live and work in the United States. In the 15 years since, they have become our coworkers and neighbors, making vital contributions to many communities while enduring anti-immigrant prejudice and attacks, most recently from the Trump administration. Now, the Supreme Court has allowed the administration to end TPS for 330,000 Haitians in the United States, ripping away their legal status.

Thousands of our coworkers and neighbors -- including members of 1199SEIU providing much-needed care in nursing homes, hospitals and homecare -- are now unable to remain in their jobs, and their families have lost their only sources of income. 1199SEIU members and others are coming together to support these familiies to buy groceries and other urgently needed items as they cope with this emergency.

At this time, the Bread & Roses Cultural Project can only accept contributions from residents of New Jersey, New York and Florida. We hope to add other states shortly. In addition, we are not at this time able to accept any financial support from employers of 1199SEIU members or their agents.
