Green Neighbors Network began with a simple idea: take a neglected piece of property and turn it into something that could bring neighbors together.

What has grown from that idea has become so much more than a garden.

Our community garden in Kingston has become a place where neighbors stop to talk, children learn about nature and gardening, families visit, and fresh produce is shared with the community. We have added a Little Free Library and Little Free Pantry, welcomed Scouts and other community members, and begun building partnerships with organizations and educators who want to provide programs involving gardening, conservation, pollinators, recycling, food preservation, and environmental education.

The garden was created to serve everyone, regardless of income, age, or background.

Unfortunately, our recent application involving the continued community garden use and the proposed mixed use of the property was denied. We now have to take the next step and appeal that decision to the Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas.

Taking a municipal zoning matter to court comes with expenses that a small nonprofit like Green Neighbors Network was never expecting to face. Attorney fees, filing fees, transcripts, court costs, and other legal expenses can add up quickly.

That is why we are asking our community for help.

Every donation to this campaign will help us pursue the appeal and give Green Neighbors Network the opportunity to continue advocating for the future of this community space.

We have already seen what can happen when people come together around something positive. We have watched neighbors meet one another, children learn where their food comes from, families take home fresh produce, Scouts participate in meaningful projects, and people simply come to the garden because it feels like a place where they belong.

We do not want this story to end here.

If this garden has touched you, if you believe communities need more places that bring people together, or if you simply believe this project deserves the opportunity to continue, please consider supporting our appeal.

No contribution is too small. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser is just as meaningful.

Thank you for standing with Green Neighbors Network and helping us continue working toward a greener, stronger, more connected community. 🌱💚

Funds raised through this campaign will be used toward attorney fees, court filing costs, transcripts, and other expenses directly associated with the appeal. Any funds remaining after the appeal is concluded will support the charitable programs and community garden activities of Green Neighbors Network.
