We bring Family Resource Centers and their state networks together, develop shared tools and training, strengthen quality and evidence, and raise the field’s voice nationally. Through NFSN's national Communities of Practice and learning communities, Family Resource Center and Network leaders connect with peers across the country to share what they are seeing, learn what is working, and bring practical strategies and ideas back to their own communities.

An idea working in one community can spark a solution hundreds or thousands of miles away. That is the power of a connected national field: local innovation does not have to stay local.

One example emerged from a recent NFSN learning community focused on helping Family Resource Centers more effectively engage fathers and male caregivers. At Connection Family Resource Center, the cohort experience helped shape a new volunteer Navigator role designed to provide fathers and male caregivers with relational support and practical guidance as they navigate resources and systems. As Pam Finney-Smith of Connection Family Resource Center shared:

“Our volunteer Navigator role is actively being shaped through our cohort experience and the lessons we’ve gained from supporting real families in real time.”

What takes root in one learning community can inform practice far beyond it. This is national infrastructure at work: connecting local experience, accelerating shared learning, and helping promising strategies travel from community to community.
