What It Takes to Support Families Before Crisis

Families should not have to reach a crisis before support becomes available.

Across the country, more than 3,000 Family Resource Centers serve over 2 million families annually. These trusted, community-rooted places help families build on their strengths, connect with resources and relationships, and find support before challenges escalate.

The National Family Support Network helps make that local work stronger. We bring Family Resource Centers and their state networks together, develop shared tools and training, strengthen quality and evidence, and raise the field’s voice nationally. This gives local leaders resources and connections they can use to serve families well and sustain their work over time.

Your gift helps build what no single Family Resource Center, community, or state can build alone.

One Gift. National Reach. Local Impact.

When you invest in NFSN, you strengthen the infrastructure behind a growing national movement to ensure families can access high-quality, community-rooted support.

Your contribution helps us:

Connect the field through the FRC Membership Network, bringing State and Regional Family Support Networks together to learn, share, and act collectively.
Strengthen quality and the workforce through the Family Support Training Academy, expanding nationally aligned training, professional development, and pathways for high-quality practice.
Build the evidence through the FRC Evidence & Impact Institute, strengthening research, evaluation, data, and the evidence needed to demonstrate impact and drive investment.
Elevate a national voice for families and communities. As the national backbone for the Family Resource Center field, NFSN brings together experiences and insights from communities across the country, from rural communities to urban neighborhoods. We help turn what is being learned locally into a clearer national picture of what families need and what communities are doing to respond. That collective understanding can inform awareness, education, public policy, and investment in stronger systems of support for families.

Together, this work advances the National Family Resource Center Model™ as a powerful community-based primary prevention strategy and brings the experiences, innovations, and needs of local communities into state and national conversations.

Your gift helps turn local experience from across the country into shared learning, stronger evidence, and a collective national voice for families and communities.

What National Connection Makes Possible

When families and communities face new challenges, local leaders should not have to figure out solutions alone.

Through NFSN's national Communities of Practice and learning communities, Family Resource Center and Network leaders connect with peers across the country to share what they are seeing, learn what is working, and bring practical strategies and ideas back to their own communities.

An idea working in one community can spark a solution hundreds or thousands of miles away. That is the power of a connected national field: local innovation does not have to stay local.

One example emerged from a recent NFSN learning community focused on helping Family Resource Centers more effectively engage fathers and male caregivers. At Connection Family Resource Center, the cohort experience helped shape a new volunteer Navigator role designed to provide fathers and male caregivers with relational support and practical guidance as they navigate resources and systems. As Pam Finney-Smith of Connection Family Resource Center shared:

“Our volunteer Navigator role is actively being shaped through our cohort experience and the lessons we’ve gained from supporting real families in real time.”

What takes root in one learning community can inform practice far beyond it. This is national infrastructure at work: connecting local experience, accelerating shared learning, and helping promising strategies travel from community to community.

Your Gift Creates a Ripple Effect

A gift to NFSN does not support just one location. It strengthens the connective tissue behind an entire national field.

Stronger Networks strengthen local Family Resource Centers. Stronger FRCs are better positioned to respond to their communities. And stronger evidence helps build the case for sustained investment in family support nationwide.

That is the ripple effect of investing in national infrastructure.

Make an Impact

Join Us in Building What Comes Next

Families and communities are navigating growing and rapidly changing challenges. At the same time, Family Resource Centers are expanding across the country as communities look for stronger ways to support families before crisis.

This is a pivotal moment for the field, and for NFSN.

As Family Resource Centers grow, so must the national infrastructure behind them. Local leaders need access to what is working across the country. Networks need the tools and capacity to strengthen their FRCs. The workforce needs high-quality training. And the field needs stronger evidence to demonstrate impact and secure sustained investment.

Your gift helps NFSN meet this moment.

It allows us to connect more leaders and Networks, expand opportunities to learn from one another, strengthen training and professional development, build the evidence for Family Resource Centers, and advance the National Family Resource Center Model™ across the country.

Together, we can ensure that growth in the Family Resource Center field means more than simply reaching more communities. It means building a stronger, more connected, sustainable field that is equipped to respond to what families need, now and into the future.

Join us in building what comes next and advancing a future where families flourish.
