Given the significant physical, social, and financial impacts on individuals, families, and caretakers, coupled with the approximately 18,000 new cases each year and over 300,000 people living with spinal cord injury (SCI) in the United States, it’s clear that this healthcare equity issue is severely underserved.

The Thomas E. Smith Foundation (TESF) challenges the status quo by developing meaningful programs, investing in groundbreaking research, and advocating for equitable access to care. We aim to ensure that no one is denied essential healthcare equipment, physical therapy, or human services.
