We are the Irvington High School Robotics Team, the “Bulldog Bytes.” Our club, founded in 2018, is committed to providing an engaging environment for students to gain hands-on experience with robotics and STEM. Each year, we design, build, and program a robot to compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition as Team #7759.

Our annual participation in the FIRST Robotics Competition in March is the culmination of our hard work throughout the season. This season the team Competed in 2 Regional Competitions, The Hudson Valley Regional at Rockland Community College and The Tech Valley Regional at the MVP Arena in Albany, NY. With your generous support, we will be able to fund future participation in future Competitions next season and purchase the supplies needed to move forward. .We are looking to the community for financial support and in turn become a Sponsor of the Bulldog Bytes!! Any contribution is appreciated and helps us greatly!

FIRST, the acronym (For Inspiration & Recognition of Science & Technology) of a nonprofit founded by inventor Dean Kamen. This visionary’s mission is to inspire young people to pursue careers in STEM, (science, technology, engineering and math). Kamen developed the idea of applying these disciplines to a fast-paced sports competition using robots. And fast-paced it is. These are not the plodding automatons of yesteryear; they’re four-wheeled, low-riding vehicles zipping and spinning erratically at breakneck speed.

What we Do:

Our mission is to provide a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where high school students can learn high-level STEM skills through robotics.

Our team accomplishes this by:

Assembling a team of passionate students at the beginning of every school year
Engaging with the community over our work, through our social media platforms and planned community events
Inspiring younger students to study STEM by meeting with classes in younger grades
Providing a general robotics education to new members
Designing a robot to compete in the international FIRST Robotics Competition using both traditional and 21st century modeling techniques
Utilizing modern tools to construct our competition robot
Programming the functions of our robot so it can effectively complete both autonomous and remote-controlled challenges
Completing comprehensive test runs of our robot before bringing it to the final competition

The registration fees, equipment, parts, supplies, training and travel expenses are $40,000 each year.

The IEF has fully supported the team since 2019, this year they are helping us with a partial grant and we are fundraising from the community for the balance.
