Balance is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in and around Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. Balance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in 1991 and has grown from supporting 2 individuals to nearly 200 adults and children.

Balance provides support to individuals ages 5 and older. Our services promote and respond to each individual's goals, desires, needs, and dreams. We strive to empower each individual in determining the direction of their life.

Our services also enhance the communities’ capacity to understand and embrace persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Balance offers 5 different programs to those with IDD / Special Needs:

- Adult day services that focus on community outings, volunteerism, in-house activities, and social interactions
- Adult Family Homes that provide safe and family-style living situations to adults with IDD who benefit from having 24/7 supervision. Balance currently owns and operates 8 houses throughout Ozaukee County.
- Supportive Living program that assists adults with IDD who are able to live independently but need occasional help with household management, meal prep, financial assistance, and other support.
- A children's Social Skills program that supports healthy relationship building for kids with IDD / Special Needs.
- A children's Summer Recreation program that ensures that kids with IDD / Special needs get to experience Summer Camp just like other kids. This program runs largely on volunteers who are paired one-on-one with kids while they swim, boat, go fishing, and do other summer activities.
