Remember Phoenix?

He is now in a loving forever home with an incredible and dedicated adopter, but he is still suffering from complications related to the abuse he endured before he was brought to Bradshaw Animal Shelter in 2020.

Phoenix was the victim of heinous animal cruelty involving accelerant and a blow torch, resulting in severe burns and excruciating pain to an innocent animal.

His “before” photos may be difficult to see, but they speak to the magnitude of trauma that took place.

Thanks to the generosity of community donors, our original fundraiser for him in 2020 was a huge success!

We were able to save Phoenix’s life and he was able to receive specialized surgery, pain management, and 24/7 critical care to recover.

However, as a result of the unspeakable abuse inflicted upon him, his healing is still ongoing: he requires a special diet, daily oral and topical medications, and monthly vet treatments for chronic pneumonia and lung complications. He also wears clothing daily to protect his skin due to the severity of his burns.

Despite what Phoenix went through, he has shown nothing but love and kindness to humans. Other than requiring specialized care, he is happy, playful, and well-adjusted in his new home and is a testament to how resilient, forgiving, and good-natured dogs truly are.

We are fundraising for Phoenix again to help his adopter with the recurring monthly expenses for his care not covered by pet insurance sponsored by SSPA. His abuser showed us how dark the world can be, but his last fundraiser showed us how many good people exist too.
