At Life After Release, we believe families deserve more than survival after incarceration — they deserve healing, joy, and the chance to rebuild together.

Six years ago, we created the Surviving Justice Retreat, a three-day healing experience designed specifically for families impacted by the criminal legal system.

This year, we are hosting our 6th Annual Retreat in Ocean City, Maryland, bringing together 30 families and approximately 110 participants for a powerful weekend of healing, connection, and community.

Every family attends this retreat completely free of charge.
We remove financial barriers so families can focus on what truly matters — healing, reconnection, and restoration.

Healing is at the Heart of This Work

This retreat is more than a getaway — it is a space for transformation.

Across our work, we have helped save over 5,128 years of incarceration time, impacting more than 80 individuals and their families, creating second chances and keeping families together.

At the retreat, families experience:

Our Goal: Start with $20,000–$25,000

This year, we are beginning our fundraising by raising our first $20,000–$25,000 to secure lodging, meals, and healing services for families attending the retreat.

Our full goal is $60,000, but every step forward helps us get closer to fully funding this life-changing experience.
