In times of economic and political uncertainty, families face increased challenges in providing their children with the resources they need to thrive. At the heart of LEAP's mission is a belief in community care—that we are stronger when we lift each other up. We invite you to join us and invest in sustaining families as they raise young children under the threat of deportations and cuts to the social safety nets that provide families with access to critical medical care and food security. LEAP is committed to ensuring children receive the highest quality education in an environment where their cultural identity is valued and where they can feel safe each and every day.

Each Spring our families typically join us as we raise funds to support our critical programs. Last year, LEAP families raised over $4,000 to support the affordability of LEAP's programs - families pay just $60 a month for our preschool program! This year feels different. As we encourage families to save their resources in case of unforeseen circumstances, we come to you, our allies and our community, to join us in a campaign to identify 48 monthly donors to support our 48 students and families.

By becoming a monthly donor, you’re helping provide vital support to LEAP families and the broader Durham community through the lens of community care. Your contribution will ensure these children have access to high-quality early education, and their families receive the support they need to flourish, especially during uncertain times.

Your monthly gift will directly contribute to:

Early Childhood Education: Ensuring that LEAP students have access to a nurturing preschool environment that fosters language development, emotional growth, and social skills.
Family Support Services: Offering resources like our food pantry, workshops about supporting students with special needs, transition to kindergarten support, power of attorney clinics, and family wellness days to build stability, resilience, and a strong sense of community during uncertain times.
Educator Support: As we face a childcare workforce crisis, stemming from years of low pay and challenging working conditions, LEAP recruits bilingual educators from our local community who share a lived experience with our students and supports them to pursue higher education and obtain their early childhood credentials while earning a living wage in a healthy and supportive work environment.
