Building Community 2025
Hello Friend!
I recently saw an interview with Brendan Fraser about an upcoming project he is part of, “Saving Superman”, and his quote - “He’s the hero we need right now” hit home. Brendan went on to say, “We need to well by everyone who has a family member on the spectrum. We need more services available to these families.”
I also received a letter from a father of a seven year old boy on the spectrum who recently learned about NeuroAlly Family Fund (www.nafamilyfund.org) – he said, “My family and I are passionate about supporting causes we believe in, but nothing has ever felt as connected, as interwoven into the fabric of our daily lives, as this. You didn’t just start a nonprofit. You created a lifeline. You built a community for families like ours who have been fighting alone for far too long. Thank you for seeing our kids, really seeing them. Thank you for understanding that behind every meltdown is a child who just wants to feel safe, understood, and loved. Thank you for being brave enough to share your story so that families like mine could find hope in the darkness.”
This touched my soul and rejuvenated my determination to keep helping families with neurodivergence get access to tools that exist but are not covered by insurance. By building this community.
When I stumbled through creating The Ascent Scholarship and turning it into NeuroAlly Family Fund in 2023, I learned so much about how different creating a non-profit is from building a private business. I was determined to find new and creative ways to build this financial bridge for families like mine. Since inception, NAFF has supported SIXTEEN Families with testing (approximately $5K/person for this evaluation that helps the person, their family, and the team at their school) and customized family counseling and services so that each family can connect and grow together (these services cost approximately $5-7K/month/family).
I am writing this to you today to ask you to help be part of building this community. Neurodivergence impacts ALL of us. 1 in 5 individuals has one of the following in their brain processing function: ADHD, Autism, OCD, Dyslexia, Tourette’s, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, or Sensory Processing Disorder.
If you are still with me – I ask that you consider a tax deductible donation to NeuroAlly Family Fund via https://givebutter.com/tUi4aJ
Any amount counts. Please also consider checking with your employer to see if they will do matching funds.
From all of us at NeuroAlly Family Fund, thank you for your loyalty and support.
