The Board of Directors cordially invites you to join us for the 2026 Total Community Action Gala, an evening dedicated to honoring the enduring legacy, community impact, and visionary leadership that shaped the organization for more than six decades.

Since its founding in 1964, TCA has stood as one of the most trusted anchors of support in New Orleans for empowering families, strengthening neighborhoods, and advancing pathways to economic stability. This work has always been purpose‑driven. Today’s needs are urgent, and continuing the legacy requires all of us. Over the years, TCA has reduced poverty in this community through a collaborative effort with other vital agencies, providing an array of human services for low‑income individuals. This collective approach has ensured that families receive comprehensive support ranging from early childhood education and housing stabilization to energy assistance and workforce development.

The need is real. In 2025, more than 1,000 New Orleans children were verified but waitlisted for a publicly funded ECE seat in December 2025, because funding was insufficient and Over 6,000 New Orleans families were waitlisted for Section 8 tenant-based rental assistance in HANO’s FY2025 plan.

These numbers reflect the reality that the work and the movement must continue. For decades, TCA has delivered supportive services that meet people where they are and help them move forward, and have touched every corner of our city, uplifting individuals and families with dignity, compassion, and opportunity. Under the transformative leadership of President & Chief Executive Officer Thelma French, the organization has evolved into a modern, innovative, and nationally recognized community action agency, and her tenure has been marked by strategic growth, strengthened partnerships, expanded programming, and a steadfast commitment to equity.

Her vision has guided TCA through periods of challenge and change, ensuring the organization remains responsive, resilient, and deeply connected to the needs of the communities it serves. Through her leadership, TCA has not only preserved its historic mission but elevated it, positioning the agency for continued impact and long‑term sustainability.

As we gather for this year’s Gala, we celebrate both the legacy of TCA and the extraordinary stewardship of Ms. French, whose dedication has shaped the organization’s past, present, and future. Your support is not a ticket to attend an event or funding to host an event. It is a much needed investment in TCA and a promise to continue serving our community. Every contribution directly fuels programming that will deliver life‑changing services to build a stronger, more equitable New Orleans for generations to come.
