Over the past 11 years we’ve come to understand that having an SCN8A mutation means different things for different people. There are still many shared experiences across the SCN8A patient population, however, there is no one way to have SCN8A. At the extremes, some patients experience severe developmental encephalopathy with epilepsy, while others have intellectual disabilities, behavioral disorders, or movement disorders without seizures. Many more fall somewhere in between. This year during our anniversary month, we honor the full spectrum of the SCN8A experience, and emphasize that The Cute Syndrome Foundation is an inclusive, supportive community for everyone touched by an SCN8A mutation. Our mission remains to fund SCN8A research, raise awareness, and offer support to families at every stage in their SCN8A journey.
