Every two years, thousands of transplant recipients, living donors, donor families, caregivers, and medical professionals gather for the world's largest celebration of life. The 2028 Games are coming to Saint Paul, Minnesota: more than 20 athletic events for competitors of every skill level, an Opening Ceremony, a Donor Tribute Ceremony, and more than 40 community gatherings.

Team Alabama intends to be there.

What Alabama did in Denver:

More than twenty Alabamians made the trip to the 2026 Games and came home with 40 medals.

Andrew Ashley, twelve years old and eight years past the liver transplant that saved his life, won four gold medals — the 5K, the Youth Olympiad, table tennis, and the 100 meters.
Betsy Brown, who gave a kidney to her cousin's wife in 2016, won three golds and five silvers.
Ray Hellings, who gave a kidney to a friend in 2024, won five medals at his first Games.
Ellen Frederick came to honor her son, Bart. Five people are alive because she said yes. She and her nephew took silver in pickleball.
So many other remarkable folks...

Several others played hurt and came home in walking boots, because the team needed them on the court.

Why we're asking...

Nobody on Team Alabama is paid to be there. Athletes cover their own registration, airfare, five nights of lodging, meals, and ground transportation. In 2026, some of our team could only make the trip because other members raised money on their behalf. And none of the trip would have been possible without the generosity of the donors who made it all possible.

Every dollar given here goes to one group of amazing people: Team Alabama...and getting them to the Games!
