The goal of this a special monthly donation campaign is to help Sunflower Seeds team members in Ukraine operate our aid distribution warehouse in a sustainable way.

Why our Ukraine Warehouse needs help?

The challenge we are facing is the ever-increasing number of aid requests through the web request form, now reaching 800-900 per month (20-30 per day) in 2026. The actual number is even higher, when the requests received through various messengers, phone calls, and in-person visits to the warehouse are taken into account.

With such a high number of requests, our Ukrainian team needs dedicated helpers working on this operation at least part-time, without being distracted by the need to make a full-time living elsewhere. We would like to support our volunteers that help receiving, processing, packing, and handing off or shipping the aid packages, and handle all the associated communications, documentations, logistics and other details that are involved in this process.

What it takes to run a warehouse?

There are costs associated with sustaining operations of the aid distribution warehouse - in both materials and supplies, as well as helpers' time:

Supplies:

$25/month in packing supplies
$50/month in postage expenses
$75/month in fuel expenses

Time:

$100/month for partial help from one person (a few days a week)
$200/month for full help from one person (most of each week)
$400/month for full help from two people
- ...and so on

The total goal for this campaign is set at the $2000/month level, because we need about 10 people (plus materials and supplies) to sustain our operations in Ukraine. If we could cover even a part of these monthly costs over the next few months, that would be a great help.

It all adds up and will be used to help our Ukrainian team members achieve sustainable operation of the Sunflower Seeds warehouse in Ukraine.

The warehouse process

The process of fulfilling >500 requests per months is quite laborious. Even once all the documentation, communication, and validation processes are finished, the people still need to unload a 40ft container that arrives from the USA every 2 months, and distribute the aid to each of the Defenders. The latter process of sending parcels involves multiple steps to assemble, pack, label each package and take it to the Nova Post office for the actual shipping.

Sunflower Seeds Ukraine is an all-volunteer organization that responds flexibly and efficiently to the most urgent needs in the hottest war zones in Ukraine. We stay agile due to our small size, multinational team, and direct on-site contacts that we developed in 2014-2015 and adopted to the new realities in 2022.
