Team Neuro is a dedicated group of medical professionals headed to Ghana in April 2026 to provide free complex neurosurgical care to patients in need. This will be our third trip to Holy Family Hospital in Techiman, Ghana, where we are working on setting up the first neurosurgery center in the region. In 2025, we performed 30 complex neurosurgery cases for patients who otherwise would not have received care.

More About Team Neuro:

Team Neuro is a chapter of Operation International, a secular nonprofit that provides medical care to those in need in underserved countries. Since early 2023, the team has been hard at work with the physicians and administrative staff at the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman, Ghana to open the first neurosurgery center in that part of the country. The team completed their maiden mission to Ghana in April 2024, performing 28 life-changing surgeries. The team's hope is that over the course of the coming 3 to 5 years, with the continuous training of the local staff and the donation of equipment, the center will become a neurosurgery referral center for the other hospitals located in central portion of the country.

Operation International is a secular, non-political, humanitarian organization founded in 1996 by Medhat Allam, MD; Ravi Kothuru, MD; and Robert Mineo, CRNA under the original name of International Surgical Mission Support. The founders aspired to offer free medical care to children and adults suffering from the lack of basic health care in poor countries.

Team NY, the first Operation International team, made its maiden mission to Haiti in 1997, where the founders of the organization witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of poverty and inadequate medical care.

Since the beginning, our teams of doctors, clinicians, nurses, and aides have expanded to include over 200 medical professionals in multiple Chapters located throughout the United States, the UK, and Hong Kong.

In our many medical missions to date, we have directly impacted the lives of thousands of people by performing life-saving and life-changing surgeries including cancer surgeries, sight restoration surgeries, burn reconstructive surgeries, corrective surgeries for congenital anomalies such as clubfoot and cleft palate, and obstetric and gynecological surgeries.
