A note from event founder, Thalia's incredible dad, Hirsha:

It's hard to believe that it has been almost 5 years since the worst day of my life. On October 18th, 2021, my daughter Thalia was born still at 32 weeks. After months of excitement and eager anticipation to greet our daughter into the world, my wife Mamta and I instead dealt with the greatest tragedy of our lives and left the hospital the next day without our daughter. 5 years later and our love still burns as brightly as ever for our Thalu bear. She'd have been such a wonderful big sister to her little brothers Raja and Siddhartha.

Last year, to honor Thalia and all the babies we lost too soon, I ran 50 miles in Long Island City, where Thalia would've called home. I started at 3:00 am, and did ten 5-mile laps around my neighborhood. Throughout the roughly 13 hours I ran, I was supported by my loving wife and Thalia's incredible mommy Mamta, and was joined on several laps by so many of our loving friends and family. It was one of the most grueling experiences of my life, but we did it, and in the process raised an incredible $12,552 within just a few weeks. It was truly a demonstration of community at its finest, and this year, community will be the central theme of Thalia's birthday.

That is why I am asking you to join us again for the 4th Annual Run for Thalia on Sunday, October 18th, 2026.

This year, we're changing it up. Instead of me doing some crazy marathon around the city or an ultramarathon for half the day, my plan is to hold a run/walk event right here in Long Island City that we can all do TOGETHER. I've submitted a permit request to the city, and if it's approved, we're golden! We'll start at Hunters Point Park, and start together. This isn't a race, per se; it's a communal celebration and tribute. I hope to walk, run, or jog hand in hand with my friends, family, and neighbors to bring attention to a tragedy that is so widely ignored and misunderstood. Together, we can help families everywhere, and the first step is awareness.

The permit has not yet been granted, but as soon as it is, I'll let you know the details of the course and the day's agenda! In a nutshell, we'll do the Run for Thalia, and then eat, drink, and enjoy the day together!

Additionally, I would appreciate it if you could please make a donation, which will be directed towards PUSH for Empowered Pregnancy, a wonderful organization that fights to eradicate all preventable stillbirths. No donation is too small; every cent helps the hardworking volunteers at PUSH to help pass legislation, spread information to parents, and make necessary changes.

There are almost 65 stillbirths per day in the United States, and so many of these stillbirths are preventable. In Thalia's honor, I hope to bring more awareness to this issue, but I can only do this with your help.
