The Thank You Project (TYP) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 charitable organization founded by a native Nigerian who feels privileged to live in the USA. The TYP provides clean water to ~120,000 people living in rural areas of Nigeria. As of January 2023, we have raised over $190,000 and built 5 water wells. We are on a relentless pursuit to provide clean water to all who do not have this access, which is why we are excited about our newest partnership opportunity.

In partnership with Thank You Project, we will be working with University of Kentucky’s Ugonna Onyenso to build a freshwater well in his hometown of Owerri, Nigeria. In addition to building a well in Owerri, we also want to create a scholarship fund for other deserving student-athletes in Owerri to attend local universities.

In order to do so, we need YOUR HELP! You can help in two ways:

1) Donate – any and all donations are MUCH appreciated. All donations are tax-deductible.

2) Spread the word – this is a REAL issue in all of Nigeria. The average life expectancy in Nigeria is 56 years old. Clean water our wells provide can extend lives 3-6 more years! PLEASE SHARE THIS LINK!!

Our ultimate goal for 2023 is:

1. Continue to provide freshwater wells (costing ~ $35,000 per well) to communities that have none.

2. Continue to provide scholarships for deserving students who cannot afford the cost of university tuition (only $2,000 per year in Nigeria).

3. Build community centers near each water well.

Our annual fundraiser, the Water Walk, simulates the 5-10 miles Nigerian women and children walk to collect water every day. Volunteers walk with empty buckets from Greeley Park in Nashua, NH to the Merrimack River to obtain water and walk back (2 miles). This event attracts 100+ walkers (and counting) and was profiled on NH Chronicle through WMUR in 2021. Our walk this year is September 16, 2023.

In the United States, we take running water for granted. The Water Walk helps people realize how fortunate we are and how we can help the less fortunate in areas far from where we live who have so much less.
