This work was created during the pandemic — when the business of theatre had shut down; leaving millions of actors, artists, and technicians out of work with no idea of when doors would open again. In that chaos and the subsequent months that followed, many Americans experienced an awakening. A realization that there was power in a reset; taking time to reassess the priorities in life. And dedicating themselves to those priorities: those dreams, those goals, those stories…

Thank You for Sharing (TYFS) was born out of that spirit. TYFS is a reset for the theater world. It’s not about flashing lights, fanfare, or fiction. No, no, no…

TYFS is about truth.

It’s about growth. It’s about healing. It’s a village around a fire, passing stories from elder to child. It’s the hard conversation between lovers lost. It's the play you bring your father and your grandfather to. The play you bring your sons and brothers and uncles to. The play you bring yo boys, and yo dogs, and ya niggas to — not because of the spectacle, but because of the message.

Mission, Vision, & Methodology:

Thank You for Sharing is a heartfelt journey into the ether of understanding exactly what it means to have value — as a man. Raw, honest, and 100% unfiltered: it’s the ultimate dick-pic of the black man’s soul.

A long overdue hard look in the mirror; TYFS is a unique, theatrical Kundalinī awakening that dives deep down and inward — cleansing the collective spiritual chakras from the crown to the root, and opening up pathways to healing. It is a community outreach program in the form of a touring play as well as a social media revolution; missioned with improving black men’s mental health through performance and conversation.

TYFS takes a different theatrical approach by incorporating real time usage of social media + streaming software, live interactions with the audience, and production minimalism to captivate and hold audiences. Finally, in addition to the live in-house performances, TYFS is also pre-recorded as a digital production, like Broadway’s Hamilton, available on Disney+. Through this methodology, TYFS creates a once-in-a-lifetime experience that compels audiences to pay attention, hear the message, and most importantly — walk away changed.

Production History

Since it’s inception, TYFS has seen 3 workshop productions (including it’s initial incubation); sponsored and supported by the Kennedy Center’s Local Theatre Residency program. These powerful performances earned TYFS it’s first glowing reviews; a testament to it’s potential as a standalone project. These low-risk performances also allowed TYFS opportunities for growth, in which the script and production was tweaked, honed, and polished to near perfection; incorporating feedback from fellow artists, technicians, and audiences.

The Local Tour + The Bigger Picture

Now, TYFS prepares to take it’s first step towards the future: a local tour; where it will build up a dedicated fan base and audience. This tour will journey all across the DMV, taking the content to the community and creating safe-spaces where real conversations can be had. This phase of development will conclude with a debut at the International Black Theatre Festival; where this work will gain national attention before then touring across the country.

The Finish Line

Finally, TYFS will conclude it’s journey on Broadway, where we will showcase this powerful production to the biggest theatre audiences in the world and compete for award recognition.

Anchored by playwright, producer, performer Jeremy Keith Hunter, and directed by DMV theatre legend Kenyatta Rogers; TYFS is set to turn the theatre world upside down with this amazing production.
