More Than a Sporting Event. A Celebration of What’s Possible.

The Carl Edward Foundation was created to bridge a very real gap: the space between what insurance will cover and what people with spinal cord injuries and progressive neurological diagnoses actually need to live with greater independence, dignity, and freedom.

A wheelchair that truly fits. Accessible transportation. Equipment that makes it possible to shower safely, get out into the community, care for your family, or simply participate in everyday life. Too often, the things that can make the greatest difference in someone’s quality of life are considered “not medically necessary” or simply fall outside the limits of insurance coverage.

That is where The Carl Edward Foundation steps in.

But independence is about more than equipment.

It is also about belonging, purpose, connection, and the opportunity to keep doing incredible things.

That is why this year’s event includes an Adaptive Sports Showcase.

Adaptive sports create spaces where athletes with disabilities can compete, challenge themselves, build friendships, travel, lead, and be part of a community that sees their ability rather than their diagnosis. From wheelchair rugby and para-cycling to basketball and beyond, these athletes are redefining what sport—and possibility—can look like.

And we want our entire community to see it.

This showcase is an opportunity for families, kids, athletes, healthcare professionals, businesses, and community members to experience adaptive sports up close, meet the people behind them, and learn more about the realities of living with a disability—including both the barriers that still exist and the extraordinary things happening every day.

With the Paralympic movement continuing to grow and the Olympic and Paralympic Games coming to the United States in 2028, there has never been a better time to introduce our community to these sports and the remarkable athletes participating in them.

Come watch. Ask questions. Bring your kids. Meet the athletes. Discover resources. Cheer loudly.

And most importantly, help us build a community where people with disabilities have access not only to the equipment they need, but to independence, opportunity, community, and a life fully lived.
