Ten years ago, we ran the New Rochelle Turkey Trot as kids. This Thanksgiving, we’re returning with a new reason to run.

Hi, we are Dylan and Emily Erber, siblings, high school students, and co-founders of The Celiac Shelf. Dylan has celiac disease, and through our own experiences, we saw firsthand how difficult it can be for families to find medically safe, gluten-free food.

For many families, gluten-free food is not a preference. It is a medical necessity. Yet it is often more expensive and frequently unavailable at food pantries. Families should never have to choose between eating unsafe food or going without.

That is why we started The Celiac Shelf, a nonprofit dedicated to providing free, medically safe, gluten-free food to individuals and families who rely on it for their health. We work with local schools, food pantries, and community partners to help make safe food available where families already turn for support.

This year, we're bringing our mission back to a Thanksgiving tradition that has been part of our family for years. The photo above is of us running the New Rochelle Turkey Trot in 2016. Now, ten years later, we're forming The Celiac Shelf Turkey Trot Team and running to help build access to safe, gluten-free food in our community.
